P4 English Model Compositions is based on the latest PSLE English continuous writing format, which gives pupils more room for creativity and story development.
Students are required to write a composition of at least 120 words about a topic. They are expected to weave a story based on at least 1 of 3 given pictures. Last but not least, they must ensure that they have answered the given points in their writing.
There are 20 commonly tested topics which are featured in this book. By reading the model compositions which are included, students will:
- gain a better understanding of sentence structure, grammar and vocabulary.
- learn the various writing techniques such as character development, show, not tell, setting descriptions and development of story plot.
- understand the story elements of a narrative – exposition, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.
- understand the basic format of a personal recount – orientation, series of events and reorientation.
We hope this book will help P4 students learn how to tackle common composition topics and be more mentally prepared to perform their best for the continuous writing tests or examinations.
